BMAF track championships held at Birmingham. With many of the competitors suffering from heat exhaustion and the ambulance crews close at hand, Pam competed the gruelling 25 laps 10000m race on Saturday and won her age group in 49mins 36secs. She returned to the track on Sunday to clock 23mins 43 secs to take the 5000m title.

Ilford veterans John Mackenzie and Philip Postings ran in the tough Brentwood 10k hosted by Thrift Green Trotters. John was first in for the club on this tough undulating course recording a respectable 44 mins 46 secs. Phil was a little way back in 62mins 46 secs.

John Batchelor lowered his season's best for 3000m when he took the male over 60 award in the Vets AC event held at Battersea last Tuesday in a time of 11mins 14.3secs. John was recovering from a hamstring injury but still managed 4th overall to Barnet's Liam O'Hare who recorded 9mins 59.7 secs, an excellent time for a male over 55.

Terry Knightley successfully defended last years title with yet another victory in a low key Rochford 5k road race. Terry ran 17mins 58 secs to defeat Ian Pike of Benfleet.

Ilford AC now look forward to their  "Yacht Handicap" on Wednesday night - a 5 mile race to be held on the paths and tracks of Hainault forest.
