• Ilford AC's  Nicola Hopkinson finished in an excellent 2nd place overall and top veteran when competing in the Chalfont St Giles 10k road race in Buckinghamshire. On a tough course comprising many hills and stiles Nicola showed her endurance leaving her efffort late to overtake the 2nd woman only in the last quarter of a mile finishing in a time of 48 mins and 30 seconds.

A small contingent of Ilford runners also competed in the Canvey Island Rotary 5k and 10k runs this weekend. Pick of the bunch was the club's prolific racer Terry Knightley who added to his impressive collection of silverware with an excellent 3rd place trophy in the 5k race. The race was a disorganised affair with some dubious marshalling resulting in the runners going off course for some 200 to 300 metres which was reflected in Knightley's finishing time of 17minutes and 59 seconds.
