    In what could only be described as like sitting in an oven, Ilford juniors took part in round 3 of the EYAL meeting at Cambridge with the sun constantly beating down on all and sundry. There was two CLUB RECORDS a few personal bests and debutees which made up the 32 athletes competing (16 Boys & 16 Girls). Ilford performed well and finished 4th of the 7 teams, results as follows:
     
    1) Chelmsford                  - 624 Points
    2) Cambridge & Coleridge - 606.5 Points
    3) Stevenage                   - 586.5 Points
    4) Ilford AC                      - 390 Points
    5) Milton Keynes             - 369 Points
    6) Thurrock                     - 234 Points
    7) Ryston                       - 140 Points
     
     
    It was certainly not sha-lot when Charlotte Deacon recorded a very impressive Personal Best in the UP/15 girls shot putt with a distance of - 8m 95 for 1st. Andy Carle went that one step further in the UP/15 Boys Javelin extending his own CLUB RECORD to a distance of - 39m 34 to come 1st. Both Charlotte & Andy are now very close to knocking on the door of there respective milestones of 9m in the shot and 40m in the javelin.
     
    The U/13 girls had a full house which enabled them to have a competitor in each event. Nair Anima ran very well in the 200m with - 31.2s and 1st, a 5th in the 70m hurdles with 14.4s and 2nd in the discus with - 15m 93. Corona Bryce Arnold did the 70m hurdles as well coming home 4th in the same time and was excellent in her 100m with 1st in - 14.2s. Alleisha Joseph ran the 100m in 20.3s for 5th and threw the discus - 9m 59 for 4th. Georgia Laudat ran the 200m in - 30.8s for 3rd. Emma Light competing for the 2nd time came home 6th in the 1500m with - 6m 29.7s and jumped - 3m 23 for 6th in the long jump. There were 3 debutants with Emma's friends Lianne Lusted competing in the 1500m with - 6m 36.6s for 3rd, 5th in the high jump - 1m 05 and 6th in the shot with - 4m 70, while Jasmine Darling ran the 800m in - 3m 16.6 for 5th, high jumped - 1m 10 for 6th and putt - 6m 62 for 1st in the shot. The other debutant was Julianne Thompson, she also competed in the 800m with a good time of - 3m 17.5s for 4th and did the long jump finishing 6th with - 2m 61. The relay team (Julianna, Jasmine, Georgia & Nkiru) came home in around 63.7s for 6th.
     
    There were 5 athletes in the u/15 girls with Charlotte Deacon recording a PB in the shot putt with - 8m 95 and 1st, she also did the discus with - 16m 12 and 5th and lastly the javelin - 12m 48 and 2nd. Charlie Clements seems to be coming into some form with a 2nd in the javelin with - 21m 35 and the discus was 3rd with a distance of - 15m 50. Aimee Jones improving with her sprint events came home 1st in the 300m with - 47.0s, 3rd in the 200m with - 29.4 and finished 6th in the 75m hurdles in a time of - 15.1s. Mishka did well in the 200m in - 31.9s and 4th, the 100m was completed in around 14.7s and the long jump distance of - 3m 47 was good enough for 7th. Lydia Hall equalled her PB in the high jump with a clearance of - 1m 40 and only finished 4th on count back. She finished 1st in the 1500m with a time of - 5m 39.3s and in her first attempt at shot putt guided by the more experienced Charlotte was able to achieve a distance of - 5m 28. The girls showed grit and determination by doing the relay (Charlotte, Lydia, Aimee & Mishka), finishing 5th.
     
    In the U/17 Girls Madeline Thompson competing for the first time this year jumped - 3m 70 for 2nd in the long jump and putt a distance of - 4m 60 for 3rd in the shot. Sarah Kigozi ran the 100m in a time of - 13.2s and 4th, the 200m in - 27.9s and 4th again and to show consistency she did the long jump finishing yes you've got it 4th again with - 4m 39. Laura completed the trio with - 49.7 in the 300m and 5th, the shot distance of - 6m 11 was 5th and like Sarah she finished with a trio of 5th in the discus with - 14m 89.
     
    The U/13 Boys had Nethaneel Mitchell- Blake run a solid 100m with 2nd place in - 13.2s and 1st in the long jump with - 4m 59. Joshua Daly recorded 3 firsts an a PB in the 75m hurdles for 1st in a time of - 16.0s, the 100m was 14.9s and 1st in the long jump with 4m 30. Ben Jones had a PB in the shot with - 6m 33 for 1st, the distance of - 14m 05 in the discus and the 200m in - 41.9 for 7th. Yocef Zatat continues to shine and extended his own CLUB RECORD in the discus coming first with a magnificent throw of - 25m 33, and was equalling impressive in the shot putt with - 8m 74 also for 1st.
     
    Mohammed Swamad although initially not feeling his best was able to record a 1st in the 800m with - 2m 13.3s, a 1st in the long jump with a PB of - 4m 71 and 3rd in the 400m with a time of - 59.9s. Jerrell Alleyne ran the 100m in - 13.6 for 4th and the long jump 4th place with - 4m 94. Ayokunle Adekeye competing for the first time this year ran the 100m coming 3rd in - 14.0s. Liam Leddy did the 800m in a time of - 2m 42.3 for 2nd and the 400m in - 76.0s and 4th, he also non-scored in the discus. Andy Carle extended his post 2004 javelin CLUB RECORD with a distance of - 39m 34 and 1st and the discus 3rd with another PB of - 22m 98. Rob Legon recorded a PB in the shot with - 8m 94 a javelin distance of - 22m 35 for 2nd and non scored in the discus. The relay unfortunately was disqualified for running out of the change over section..Andrew Townsend competed in the discus and threw - 13m 18 for 5th.
     
    In the U/17 Boys Nathaniel Senior did well coming 1st in the long jump with a leap of - 5m 84 and also 1st in the shot with - 8m 48. In the 200m he recorded a time of - 25.8 for 5th. Bakr Al-Akku ran the 400m and 800m coming 5th in the 400m with - 56.0s and 3rd in the 800m with - 2m 22.2, he also threw the javelin. Gull Hassen Ditta was in good form coming 3rd in the high jump with - 1m 55, 2nd in the triple jump with - 10m 79 and 9m 27 in the shot putt with 3rd. Ozi Nzeako did the sprint double coming 4th in both races. The 100m was in a time of - 12.6s and 26.0s in the 200m. He complimented Gull Hassen in the triple jump with a distance of - 11m 21 for 3rd. Chike Okonji completed the line up with a PB in the long jump and 1st with - 5m 54, a 5th in the 100m with a time of - 12.5 and 17.2s in the 100m hurdles and 6th. The relay team (Chile, Bakr, Ozi & Nathaniel) finished 3rd with a time of - 48.0s.
     
    Well done to all the athletes in what was a very difficult day due to the very hot conditions. The next combined meeting is the final round of the UKYAL at Parliament hill on Sunday 23rd July and before that is the SWL meeting on Saturday 15th July. Hope to see you all there.
