• Press Report -  SEAA T&F Champs(u17s/U15s), UKYAL, Orsett 3 miles

South of England Track & Field Championships at Chelmsford (U/17's & U/15's only).

Ilford AC had 2 junior athletes in .South of England T&F championships last weekend competing against some tough opposition .

Both athletes were U/15 Girls with Aimee Jones competing first in the 800m on Saturday day 1. Aimee was drawn in a tough heat of the 3 qualifying heats and despite running a very respectable time of  2m 37.91sec for 7th,  just outside her PB by 11 hundredths of a second, it was unfortunately not good enough to reach the final.

Charlotte Deacon took to the field on Sunday (Day 2) to take part in the Shot Putt. In better conditions than Saturday she was up against 8 other girls. Charlotte was first to putt and opened with an impressive putt of  8m 65cm for around 4th on the 1st throw. She consolidated this with the next throw of  8m 27cm but after the 3rd throw she was down to 5th. This however entitled her to 3 extra throws, but couldn't seem to reproduce her form of the 1st throw and ended the competition with a very respectable 5th place.

Both Aimee & Charlotte will be back at Chelmsford on June 10th representing Barking & Dagenham Schools in the Essex Schools Championships.
