5 members from Ilford AC took the paths of Hyde Park to compete in the annual Serpentine New years Day 10k. On a bleak cold morning the 3 lap course proved difficult to negotiate and some strong crosswinds slowed times considerably. 16 year old Ian Macdonald emerged as first man home for the club in 40 minutes 7 seconds followed by a very out of sorts Martin Clarke in 44minutes and 4 seconds.

In the women's race Pam Jones won the women's over 65 category recording 50minutes and 18 seconds. Nicola Hopkinson ran 45 minutes and 4 seconds and Sally Gillam 49 minutes and 6 seconds.

On boxing day Peter Spelman ran in the Enfield 5k and finished in 24th position in a time of 22minutes 50 seconds..
