Ilford ACs senior mens squad were once again well below strength in the 2nd Essex Cross Country League fixture held at Hylands Park on Saturday. Nevertheless 10 senior men competed for the club in a large field of over 160 runners. On a fast and grassy fairly flat course Malcolm Muir was again first man home for the club in 12th position.
Darren Bottrill produced a much improved run to finish next in 89th. It was then left to 4 super veterans to complete the 6 scoring places with Martin Clarke 96th, John Mackenzie 110th, John Platt 117th and Mick Herring 125th.
Other Ilford men to complete the course were Henry Ricketts 131st, Duncan Turner 132nd, Graham Williams 141st, Pete Whiting 160th.

The women's race saw Breege Nordin leading the team home in 22nd position with Nicola Hopkinson in hot pursuit in 25th. Keelie Brookes was less than a minute behind in 36th and there was a welcome return to competition for Lyndsey Barker whose  52nd place completed the scorers for the team. Sally Gillam and Pam Jones were only just outside the scorers with 54th and 57th positions respectively.

In the junior races Alex Richards improved 5 places on the first fixture by placing an admirable 6th in the under 13 boys race. Liam Leddy also had a strong run finishing 18th.

Madeline Thompson and Lydia Hall both did well in the Under 15 girls recording 16th and 26th places respectively.
