Ilford AC ladies continue to improve with some impressive performances this weekend. Pride of place must go to Sally Gillam who sliced over 7 minutes from her personal best in the Abingdon Marathon on Sunday. Running in ideal conditions in the beautiful scenic conditions of rural Oxfordshire Sally completed the predominantly flat course in a time of 3hrs 43mins and 45 seconds which guarantees her a "good for age" start in next April's Flora London Marathon.
Keelie Brookes chipped in with another fine performance and personal best in the tough Croydon 10k registering a time of 44mins 55 seconds with Duncan Turner only 3 seconds behind in 44mins 58 seconds. Duncan ran a much more controlled race than of late which enabled him to record yet another personal best.
Nikki Martin made a welcome return from injury to run in the Nike 10k held at Hackney's Victoria Park. Nikki clocked a cautious 45mins and 7 seconds to finish the race with her knee holding out well.

All now bodes well for the  women's squad which hopes to be a lot stronger for the 2nd of the Essex League cross counjtry fixtures to be held at Hylands Park Chelmsford on Saturday.

Across the world in sunny California Ilford AC's superveteran John Batchelor had a superb run in the Longbeach 5k when he finished 19th overall in a field of over 1200 runners. John's time of 18mins 44 seconds is a season's best and is a very classy time for somebody competing the male 60 category. John finished over 4 mins ahead of the next male 60 and is now returning to something like his old form.
